Is AI the hype of the moment, or is it the new iteration of our networked life? Regardless, it requires a different view on design for sure. Don’t focus on the presence but on the rules. How do we interact with the intelligent machines and what does it mean for the role of a designer?
The approach of designing behaviour may be well applied to this system as it is focused especially on the affects of design. We invite three speakers that approach this from different angles.
Erik van Pluijm is from ThirtyX, a visual storytelling agency for innovative businesses. Erik is educated in artificial intelligence and worked as a game designer before starting his current agency. He is co-organising meetups for Design x AI coffee and AI Today.
Maaike Harbers is lector at Creating010, a transdisciplinary Research Center linked to Rotterdam University of Applied Sciences. Maaike’s research focuses on ethics and artificial intelligence. In her work she uses value sensitive design, a design methodology that explicitly accounts for values like privacy, security, wellbeing and autonomy.
